The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) is the highest academic degree of the Anglophone business and management sector. It is internationally recognized and DBA graduates are entitled to bear the German title “Dr.”[1] The DBA degree was initially established at Harvard University, USA.

Our DBA program normally applies to young professionals and executives with a Master’s degree in a relevant field and several years of post-qualifying and full-time work experience. The doctoral project focuses on transfer-oriented research and knowledge that are relevant to real business issues.

The DBA and the PhD are academically equivalent since both contain a rigorous course of study and culminate in the defense of the dissertation. Whereas many PhD holders move into academia and develop academic careers, most of the DBA graduates will probably remain in commerce and industry and will develop careers as research professionals.

[1] According to the decision of the Kultusministerkonferenz of 09/21/2001 in the version of 06/26/2015, the title “Dr.” may be used in Germany as equivalent to “Doctor of Business Administration”. This ruling may be subject to changes due to legal or political conditions.
